چکیده
Emergent phases at the interfaces in strongly correlated oxide heterostructures display novel properties not akin to those of constituting materials. The interfacial ferromagnetism (LaMnO3)m/(SrMnO3)n (LMO)m/(SMO)n superlattices (SLs) with antiferromagnetic bulk LMO and SMO layers is believed be a result charge transfer (CT). By using situ optical ellipsometry, it demonstrated directly that CT emergent magnetism SLs are controlled by LMO/SMO thickness ratio, chosen as m/n = 1 2. enhanced 2 favors high-TC TC 350–360 K, whereas reduced suppresses yielding 300 K. A complex dependence saturation magnetization function interface density Λ (m + n)−1 minima 0.11 (m/n 2) 0.25 1) was observed rationalized competition ferromagnetic contributions, originating from volume well interfaces. role epitaxy stress MnO6 octahedral tilts magnetic behavior discussed.

Charge transfer at metallo-molecular interfaces may be used to design multifunctional hybrids with an emergent magnetization that may offer an eco-friendly and tunable alternative to conventional magnets and devices. Here, we investigate the origin of the magnetism arising at these interfaces by using different techniques to probe 3d and 5d metal films such as Sc, Mn, Cu, and Pt in contact with...
متن کاملHybridization-controlled charge transfer and induced magnetism at correlated oxide interfaces
At interfaces between conventional materials, band bending and alignment are classically controlled by differences in electrochemical potential. Applying this concept to oxides in which interfaces can be polar and cations may adopt a mixed valence has led to the discovery of novel two-dimensional states between simple band insulators such as LaAlO3 and SrTiO3. However, many oxides have a more c...
متن کاملMAGNETISM. Imaging and control of ferromagnetism in LaMnO₃/SrTiO₃ heterostructures.
Oxide heterostructures often exhibit unusual physical properties that are absent in the constituent bulk materials. Here, we report an atomically sharp transition to a ferromagnetic phase when polar antiferromagnetic LaMnO3 (001) films are grown on SrTiO3 substrates. For a thickness of six unit cells or more, the LaMnO3 film abruptly becomes ferromagnetic over its entire area, which is visualiz...
متن کاملTunable Charge Transfer Dynamics at Tetracene/LiF/C60 Interfaces
Ultrafast optical spectroscopy was utilized to investigate charge transfer dynamics across organic semiconductor tetracene/C60 interfaces in the presence of a LiF barrier layer. Photoinduced absorption spectra in the 1.6−2.3 eV range reveal a strong effect of the intermediate LiF barrier layer on dynamics of the charge transfer excitons (CTE) creation and recombination. Increasing thickness of ...
متن کاملCharge transfer and surface scattering at Cu-C60 planar interfaces.
Thin-film planar structures of Cu and C60 have been sequentially deposited onto sapphire substrates in high vacuum and studied using in situ resistivity measurements during deposition together with ex situ atomic force microscopy characterization of surface topography. Two different regimes of behavior are identified. In the first of these, the thin-film limit in which the Cu is thin enough to ...
